Christmas on the Beach - Skydive Algarve ( Portugal )

Still not decided where to go for your Christmas Skydiving holidays ? Once again we will make our way to the Skydive  Algarve boogie from the 20th of December to the Middle of April of next year . The Portimao new years party is not one to be missed. Before you ask Students may not land on the beach and are resticted to 15000ft : ) You must have 100 jumps to be considered for a slot on these speciality loads , the DZ is very safety aware.

Otherwise people with less than one hundred jumps are most welcome to come along and enjoy all the algarve has to offer from 15,000 feet.

Otherwise feel free to take advantage of the mix of warmest winter temps, great location and superb manifest operation. There are over 100 people from the UK alone now registered for this event!

The landing area has been totally revamped and has been sown with grass and is watered daily. OF note are the temperatures and better weather conditions that this location offers in Winter.  Leaving Madrid for the winter has been a tough decision , we love our location , the people but the weather is too cold given we have such a better option now.  Skydive Madrid will close Midweek due to this shift and we thank them for their understanding. They too will soon have a surprise of their own to tell you :)

COSTS  UPDATED ( New package added )
The cost for a car and apartment for one week is 292 euros. The Car will take four people and the apartment also four. This means that if your in a group of four you can have transport and accomodation for as little as 73 euros for one week. Tickets are between 24 and 26 euros to 15K.  Great deal we reckon , these costs are fixed ( gauranteed ) but for the best flights best to book soon. Get in touch ASAP to express your interest.

We have recieved bookings from individual former  students. It is possible to get a bus from Faro Airport to ” Portimao for a few euros. You can then be put on the ” sharing list ” so you would share your apartment with other skydivers who are registered for the boogie also. Budget 70  odd euros for bustransfers and apartment on this basis.

NON FFU graduates are of course welcome to come along also. There are skydivers coming from many UK dropzones , Ireland and a host of countries from around Europe will be there also.

Update 1:

This is looking like a sweet event. The sheer diversity of disciplines registered will mean few areas of the sport are not well represented.  We are assessing our equipment requirements based on FFU graduate interest expressed and will have the following gear with us:

  • 10 x 230 Solo / Navigators with a mixture of Airtec Expert and Student AAD
  • 3 x 260 Navigators with a mixture of Airtec Expert and Student AAD
  • 2 x 280 navigators with a mixture of Airtec Expert and Student AAD
  • 15 Jumpsuits / Allti / Helmets.
  • Plenty of packers so you can pack the jumps in!
  • did we mention 15000feeet ?

Update 2

The dropzone is also at sea level so getting up to 15K wont leave you short of breath or worse ( hypoxic ). Oxygen is then legally required ( and supplied ) to go above this level and some restrictions apply.

The aircraft lineup is growing also more in the next update. We would ask anybody who is intending to come to let us knowm the organization team are working hard and part of their job is to make sure there are enough aircraft available.  Accomodation is very well priced as is transport.

Last years event was a huge success with 3 Turbine Aircraft making a total of 5000 jumps. Jumpers were predominantly from the UK, Ireland and Germany.

This year promises to be even better with at least 3 aircraft already confirmed ( 3x Dornier G92 - 15000ft.. standard altitude .. in 12 minutes ) and more to be announced. We will possibly have a porter on-site ( tbc ) also for the 4 way teams needing the craft to prepare for competitions. So far there are 4 way , 8 way and even a 16 way team booked in. There will be more updates made to this page but in the meantime do get in touch.

Here are some pics to give you an idea of last year. Please note there are experience requirements for “Beach loads” with CCI approval needed to be on the beach loads or high altitude oxygen jumps from 22,000ft.

If you are a former student you are welcome to join. If you have not trained with the Uni , no problem either. We can help you to find accommodation locally , you should price flights into Faro airport, portugal. There are cheap and regular public transport links from the airport to ” Portimao “, home of skydive algarve and 60km from Faro Airport.

This promises to be a great event so pre booking is suggested in order to have the best experience possible. The drop-zone owners are booking in additional capacity based on bookings.

Such Fun ! And some some space left on our AFF courses in portugal
